Abstract of the lecture

In February 2024, Intuitive Machines successfully landed on the surface of the moon. Steve Altemus, Co-Founder, President and CEO of Intuitive Machines, will discuss the mission highlighting its historical importance of being the first commercial mission to successfully land, and the only mission to land in the South Pole region of the Moon. This commercial mission carrying NASA scientific payloads represents a new era of space exploration and the beginning of a new economy in cis-lunar space. Mr. Altemus will give his thoughts on how this economy is unfolding and the geopolitical tensions that are fueling a space race to sustain human presence on the Moon.
